The Mass Media Institute, abbreviated as IMME, was established on September 21st 1999. It is a non-profit, research-academic organization based in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Structure and affiliations:
IMME is governed by a board, called the IMME Council, which consists of nine counsellors. This board is assisted in its work by IMME’s Honorary Council, which comprises people from the fields of education, arts and communication. It is academically affiliated to the University of Nicosia (http://www.unic.ac.cy), especially the Communications Department-School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law, as well as Intercollege (http://www.intercollege.ac.cy). The two institutions provide IMME’s space and part of its equipment but in essence, it is substantially autonomous, since most of its funds come from private and official sponsors. IMME has also very close relations with the Cyprus Association for the Arts and Communication (KYSYTE) (http://www.kysyte.org) and the Ihsan Ali Foundation (http://www.ihsanali.org).
